Congratulations to Harley Ellis! She has been accepted to University of Arkansas!

Great day at the state fair for our Palmer FFA ag mechanics show team. Students did a great job building their projects as well as showing them. It was the first ever show experience for most of these students. We had several blue ribbon projects and our livestock panel rack was 3rd place in class. The panel rack was built for the state fair and will be used by the livestock show for years to come for them to store and transport panels on for the state fair livestock show. It's not every day you get the opportunity to build something that will be used by the historic state fair of Texas livestock show. Tremendous job by these students and very excited to regroup and get started on our next round of projects for these students and new students joining our program this year. Our Jr ffa girls even got even got the chance to be in interviewed.

Palmer High School BBQ Team is gearing up for another season. Over the past few years we have only had one team but with growing interest we are going to have two teams competing this year. Last weekend we held our first practice with team members learning how to prepare the three different proteins that we have to cook in the competition. Students practiced selection, trimming, seasoning and cooking of brisket ribs and chicken. Looking forward to have another successful year with our bbq teams. Students will be competing in Fort Worth and Lancaster regional competitions in November with hopes to qualify for the State High School BBQ Championships again.

Last weekend the Palmer High School BBQ team had the opportunity to practice for upcoming competitions by preparing briskets for the annual Ellis County Wild Game Dinner. It is always an honor to help with this event that raises money to help support FFA and 4H members of Ellis County. All money raised by this event goes back to students in the form of project grants, scholarships, various programs including at mechanics programs, shooting sports teams and bbq teams like ours. We would like to say thank you to the board that puts on this event and the support they give these students. The grant they give our bbq team helps out with costs of participating in competitions throughout the year as well as supplies needed to compete.

Congrats to Belle of the Week, Jenna! ❤️
