Palmer ISD is committed to providing a safe, secure, and positive school environment for all students. Parents are valuable partners in helping us achieve this goal. It is important that parents understand and help support their students in understanding issues like dating violence and sexting and the potential legal consequences. Please reference the Parent Guide to School Safety Toolkit provided by the Texas Safety and Security Center for comprehensive information.
Dating Violence
Dating violence occurs when a person in a current or past dating relationship uses physical, sexual, verbal, or emotional abuse to harm, threaten, intimidate, or control another person in the relationship.
Unhealthy relationships can start early so it is important to reinforce positive interactions at an early age. Behaviors like teasing and name-calling are not normal and can become abusive and develop into more serious forms of violence.
Sexting
Sexting is the sending, receiving, or forwarding of sexually explicit messages or images, which occurs through text message, video, social media applications, email, webcam, or other avenues via the internet.
