Counselor

My name is LeAnn Jones, and I am the high school counselor. I am thrilled to be a part of Palmer ISD!  I graduated from the University of Mary Hardin Baylor with a Bachelor of Business Administration and a Master of Business Administration.  I also hold a Master of Education in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Texas at Arlington, along with a Master of Education in School Counseling from Southwestern Assemblies of God University.

I have taught every grade from second through eighth and, prior to working in Palmer,  served as a junior high and high school counselor for two years.  This is my 13th year at Palmer High School.

When I am not at work, I enjoy hiking with my family, boating, running, watching movies, traveling to state and national parks, and relaxing at home with our sweet Yorkie.

I have two children (and a wonderful daughter-in-law) who both graduated from Palmer High School (Class of 2019 and 2021). They loved attending Palmer High School.  I am dedicated to making sure our students and parents have the same great experience.

It is my goal to partner with parents, students, and teachers to enhance each student's educational experience and prepare them for life after high school.  Please call, email, or stop by with any questions or concerns.  I know 2025-2026 will be a fantastic school year!

Important Dates

Welcome back!  I hope you had a wonderful summer.  Now we are back at school, it is time to focus on GPA, testing, and college admission requirements.

Sophomores and juniors need to take advantage of the PSAT.  This will be offered Thursday, October 9th.  Please sign up as soon as possible in the counselor's office.  Space is limited!

We recommend juniors take the SAT or ACT in order to have time to make scores necessary for college admission.  In addition to testing, juniors should research their choice colleges and inquire about specific admission requirements.

Seniors should take the SAT or ACT no later than the fall semester.  Many deadlines are quickly approaching.  For example, the University of Texas at Austin and Texas A&M have set their deadline for 2025-2026 freshman as early as December 1, 2025.  This means the entire application must be completed and filed.  In addition to the application, it is important to begin the financial aid and scholarship applications today.  These are awarded early. The sooner you apply, the better.

If I can be of assistance, please contact me. I would be happy to assist you in test registration or the college application process.

Credit by Exam dates for 2025-2026 are:

  • October 1, 2025

  • February 11, 2026

To register for a CBE, you must register with the Counselor’s office no later than 30 days prior to the test
