Greetings Palmer Family! Thank you for a terrific start to our 2007-2008 school year. I am anticipating our best year ever! Currently we have 278 students and we are a TEA Recognized Campus. There are four ratings a school can receive from the state on performance and we are on level three of the four! We are striving for the next level and with your assistance we can get there! At our celebration to meet teachers, I shared with you how you can assist us with your child’s success. The Palmer Elementary Compact is a document that outlines what each party will do to support student achievement. I am including the compact so that you may have it to review with your child and family. It stays with you for the refrigerator or any place that everyone will see it regularly. The principal, the teacher, the parents and the child all work together to meet our goal. I know we can do it together. Please call me if you have any ideas, questions or concerns about our school or your child's progress. We all want what is best for the children. |
Greetings from the Principal…

AWARDS Each year Palmer Elementary celebrates the accomplishments of our students. Each 9 weeks period we assemble for Awards Day. We recognize “A” and “AB” Honor Roll for First and Second Grade students, Perfect Attendance for all grades for the 9 weeks and our citizenship award called the SPARK award. We give these awards each 9 weeks. At the end of the year we give exemplary attendance award for any child who has never been tardy or absent from school for any reason, and for that special accomplishment we award a trophy. |

LIBRARY NEWS Exploring New Worlds… One Book at a Time! Our current library theme is “Explore New Worlds” as we start our elementary program this year with teaching and reviewing library basics. Our initial classes were a great success with teaching students the essentials of book care. Our First and Second Graders are excited about library time each week with the opportunity to check out books. Our Kindergarteners are also having library fun each week by checking out books for classroom use. We ask your help emphasizing to your child the importance of how to care for and treat books respectfully. Information will be coming soon about some online resources that will be available for students and families to use from home. Be watching for the library media services link on the Palmer ISD webpage. I look forward to an exciting new year. Happy Reading! Mrs. Barr, Library Aide Mrs. Bruce, District Librarian |

Pre-K is off to a great start! We are so excited to be at school! Singing, making new friends, playing in our new environment, and learning something new everyday is how our day begins and ends! Sometimes it is entirely too short! We would like to welcome ANY guests to visit us during the day - to read us a story or help with a craft! Please let Ms. Chris (or the office) know if you have any time available for us! You would have the BEST time in Pre-K because we have the BEST teachers and the BEST students in the whole school!! |

Second Grade Hello Everyone! Second Grade has had a terrific time getting to know one another and making friends during the past three weeks. In that short period of time our students have completed their first section of grade level testing that includes the GATES and TPRI tests. It was exciting for us to meet several of our Grandparents during our “Grand” celebration lunch. Watch the website to see many of the smiling faces we caught on film. MEMBERSHIP DRIVE We are still having our membership drive contest between classes. It’s a close race. You still have time to join. Just send $5 with your child’s name and teacher. This is a great way to support your child if you don’t have the time to volunteer for other events. We will run this contest until after the Carnival. I will announce the winners at Awards Day on November 2nd. We appreciate your support. We will have spirit wear and begin our cookie fundraiser. |
